Fall Greetings from the Mayor

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

As Mayor of the City of Cornell, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our city’s website. As you browse the website, you will find information on the history of our town, community events and much more. On our website, you will also find office hours, town meeting dates and minutes, online utility payments and information on our businesses and places of worship.

With the hustle and bustle of summer coming to an end, I welcome fall. Fall is another season that Wisconsin offers beautiful scenery. I personally can not wait for the fall’s colors  and serenity to take over. There’s something so peaceful about watching the leaves change color. Don’t be sad if you missed your summer vacation this year, because the fun is just about to start! Grab your camera, paints and paper and take a short road trip or use our kayak/canoe launch and float around the Chippewa River and Burnet Islands to take it all in. The coloring changing is like something out of a Claude Monet painting.

The sound of the whistle in the background from the Cornell-Lake Holcombe Knights scoring another touchdown, the smell of the crisp air and the taste of warm apple cider are all things I look forward to. I also look forward to the hunting season. We have some of the best small game, migratory bird hunting, lots of public land for bear and deer hunting.

As we move into the next season, I ask everyone to take a moment or two to take it all in. Enjoy what nature has to offer. Take your family and friends out for a walk along the Ice Age Trail or bike on the Old Abe Trail. If you are unsure of things to do, stop by our Visitor’s Center! They have all lived here for so long that they have all of the good tips and best hidden secrets to Cornell.

Thank you for stopping by and I will see you in one of our many small local businesses!

Sincerely,

  Mark Larson
Mayor of the City of Cornell
